Common Mistakes

So, you’re thinking about having a small home-business on the side to add to the family income. Spend a few hours each day to reach out to friends and other people you might know. And you’ve heard from some office mates during coffee break about the MLM business. There’s a good chance you might have also heard how rough it had been for them.
You’ve gone ahead and read up on the Internet, researched the market, previewed the available opportunities out there. What you consistently see are happy, fulfilled people whose testimonials speak of their success and personal growth since joining the company.
They talk about the few hours they are spending on the business and the huge rewards they’ve reaped.
Getting too excited about the radical idea that it is MLM is one common mistake to avoid in this business. Sure, the hope of spending only a few hours of your time and earning unlimited income, is like a dream come true. But smart people are able to realize when something is just too good to be true. If you’re looking for easy money, I’m sorry to say you won’t find it in MLM. The business requires hard, diligent effort.
Many people jump right in and after a month or two of very unsatisfactory results, decide to quit. They just throw in the towel too early. As with any business, there is going to be a growth curve. The tree does not bear fruit the day after you’ve planted the seed. It’s going to need some watering and nurturing, and that is exactly what the multi-level marketing business you are starting needs.
You need to be able to set an achievable goal, put forth a reasonable amount of effort, and check progress every now and then to make adjustments where it is needed.
Another common mistake people make is thinking that all companies that are into the multi-level marketing business are the same. They are not. These companies make different products, target separate markets, have varying compensation schemes, and are built for different types of people. You have to analyze which one is the right MLM company to get involved in. You have to seriously consider if selling health drinks is something you can see yourself personally enjoying, or doing well with. In other words, you need to find a connection between your own interests and the available opportunities out there.
The pathway to success in any multi-level marketing business is not exclusive to a chosen few, but it sure does not include those whose hearts are not into it, or those that just do not exercise common sense.

Keep It Simple

Successful multi-level marketers will tell you that the key factor to success in MLM is simplicity. They have carried on the K.I.S.S. principle of Keep It Simple, Sweetie/Stupid/Sucker - you name it, they tell you to keep it easy and straightforward. Multi-level marketing is a very easy business.
By easy, that means that the concepts are not that hard to absorb. When people think easy, they think that means little work. However, by easy, MLM opportunities still require the sales associate to work the business. Those who fail in MLM are shocked when they find out that the reason for their failure is their lack of tenacity, work ethic and determination to make it work. So, instead, they will blame the company or opportunity.
The way to success with multi-level marketing is in keeping the idea that work is involved. Work can come in many forms including learning, prospecting, selling the product or service, follow-up and self-study. While most multi-level marketing organizations are designed to be easy to follow, the success is dependant upon the recruit’s ability to imitate and learn from those who have gone before them.
Every thing involved in a good multi-level marketing program is easy enough to grasp. However, most concepts must be performed again and again in order to find success and happiness at the other end. If the recruit can learn to duplicate their efforts, the results will be phenomenal as long as they are following the blueprint that the MLM business model has created.
Reinventing the wheel is the second biggest factor in the success or failure of associates’ efforts. If the associate takes the blueprint and tries to do things that are out of line with what has been repeatedly proven to be successful, then this may lead to ultimate failure.
In multi-level marketing, the bottom line is that a sales associate should never try to go it alone. First of all, it’s unnecessary. Secondarily, it can lead to failure and frustration. There should be no special skills involved in getting the business up and running. Resources should be available that allow the sales associate to both promote and recruit others with a minimum of work and creation of promotional materials. This separates the good MLM companies from those that don’t support their representatives. Keep in mind that good support is the key to a successful business.
Sticking to the multi-level marketing blueprint is also part of it, but not all. Having the right mindset to seize opportunity when it presents itself and stay in a state where learning comes easily and naturally.

Multi-level marketing or MLM has taken the Internet world by storm. Every now and then you hear about a new product from a relatively new company being introduced by a friend or a relative.
Then later on you learn that you have just been talked into signing up with that multi-level marketing company because a loved-one brought you glad tidings of money beyond your wildest dreams. Now, you stand in the cold light of reality and wonder if you’ve just lost your mind.
You ask yourself, “Is MLM really real? Is it for everyone or only for the few who were lucky enough to be there when the company started?” Well, the answers to these questions will depend on your perception of what MLM really is. There are also aspects about multi-level marketing that you need to know more about so that you will be able to discern if it is real, something you want to pursue and if it’s all that it is hyped up to be.
Foremost, the MLM company the you should engage in. It is not enough that you know the product but you also need to determine if the company is backed with stability and is authentic. This is to avoid being victimized by scams and most of all you need to believe in your company as much as you believe in the products that you sell. If you have this attitude, chances are you will work towards your own success.
Second would be the kind of people in the MLM company and the kind of mentoring it gives to its members. You will know that the company is real because it does not only teach you the numbers and how many figures would be your incentives but it will teach you how to expand the business as your own. It will hone you to develop the right mentality to succeed in the business and not only that it will also direct you to the right path to achieve success.
Finally, the number of yeas that the MLM company existed will tell you if it is really stable or just a scam. Fly by night MLM companies do not last for more than a year or two. But there are also authentic companies which are still new and you can find ways to know if it is a scam or not. Well, basically it is not in the number of years of existence but somehow, the number of years that an MLM company is one of the factors that would tell you its authenticity and stability.
Making it big in the networking industry is not only a matter of selling here and there. It is also a matter of joining the right company with the right products for you to offer. Coupled with the right knowledge and attitude, you are on your way to MLM success. It would be to be the one to share your success story in front of potential recruits in the future.

Inspiring Your Downline

Downline is the most import component in a successful multi-level marketing business; without an adequate number of downline your business would surely fail. It is a common knowledge that creating a downline is not an easy task; therefore, it is important to keep your downline motivated to stay in the company and increased their productivity.
Motivation is described by psychologists as the reason that an organism carries out some activity. It is “the inner desire to take action”. Motivation is the reason why a person carries out an activity or why a person behaves in a certain way. If a person is motivated he/she tends to work harder and more efficiently than the person who is not motivated. So, if you can tap into your downline’s enthusiasm, it would be comparable to hitting a gold mine.
Personally, I don’t believe that one person can motivate another. Motivation is a force that comes from within. It is something which a person must build or create on his/her own. You may not have the power to motivate your downline, but you surely have power to INSPIRE them to be motivated. Through your actions and efforts, you can inspire your downline to work more for your MLM team.
How can you inspire your downline to keep on being motivated? Money may inspire, motivate and attract downlines to the front door, but something else has to keep them from going out the back door. You have to make some efforts that could inspire your downline to keep on being motivated and stay in the company.
Here’s some of the ways to inspire your downline to increase their productivity:
1. Recognize and reward achievements: Reward and recognition are a vital in inspiring a person. Recognize the achievements of your downline, both big and small. After all, the size of the accomplishment varies from person to person, and small steps grow to giant leaps.
2. Build a climate of trust: People tend to work harder for the person they trust, and trust leads to loyalty. Interpersonal trust between you and your multi-level marketing downline facilitates cooperation, loyalty, and belief that you and other members of your MLM team won’t take advantage of them.
3. Personalize your approach: Be accessible - return emails and phone calls of your downline and be more than a robot. Take time to ask how things are going, listen to complaints and make note of birthdays and the like.
4. Create lasting friendship: Friendship and bonding alone can keep your downline inspired. Hold a monthly team conference and have occasional gatherings with your downline to create a bond and team spirit.
There are many ways to inspire your downline. By inspiring your downline, you are also increasing their motivation and commitment; you can directly increase energy levels, interest, desire and productivity. All of this can lead to increased productivity and profit. These informal programs provide an effective strategy for inspiring downlines, and they are simple to administer. They do not cost much, do not take much time, and do not complicate the balance sheet.

MLM Careers

If you’re looking to a new career or a new stream of residual income, you might want to have the next two questions answered.
First, why consider MLM or Multi Level Marketing as a additional stream of residual income? And how can I choose a good MLM company ? Why consider MLM ?
There’s many reasons why someone might choose MLM instead of another business.
First, MLM is a great place to meet business oriented people, a group of people who share common interests and are going in the same direction. This can end up in great friendship and business partner.
Most people are looking for a way to either make some extra money or simply make it a career out of it. Both options are feasible and I think it’s the number one reason why people join this industry. MLM gives you the opportunity to help other too. Either with financial help by building a great organization or with the products or services you are promoting.
MLM also gives you an easy transition between what you are doing now and where you want to go since you can start small and grow in the future without having to jump 100% in your MLM project. These a just a few reason why someone would look into a MLM company.
Second, how can you choose a good MLM company ? There’s thousands of them out there so before you start investing your money and your precious time, look very closely at your requirements and why which company might fulfill them. A few key points are the following : How long is the company going for ?
In other words, is this company is here to stay ? If you’re planing a residual income, you would want this income to last for a very long time.
Can you get customers ?
A healthy MLM organization has customers outside the network, meaning there’s people who will actually buy the product or services for the benefit of it, but won’t join in the network of distributor. How much will you be paid ? Understanding the compensation plan is very important. It may take time and a few review of it, but it’s crucial that you know how much you can make and how can you achieve it.
Is there good training in m place ? The most important part of it is training. How can you be successful at something if nobody show you how ?
Make sure the company or team you join has good training in place, ready to show you from day one, what to do and where to go to achieve your goals. In taking in consideration these points, you can search thru the DSA (Direct Selling Association) website to find which company is right for you.
Make a list of potential company, visit their website, get the compensation plan, products or services information and study them. You can even call the home office to get some information, they’ll be more then happy to help you.
Think of it as a hunt for a business partner, not just some random search to make some quick cash. This MLM industry can really help you if you use it wisely.

Multi-level marketing companies have become quite popular and have turned out to be very lucrative businesses, for both the business starters and the people that join them.
The whole concept of referring people to the business, making them purchase the products and then earning a commission or rebate from all the sales of the people that you have recruited, as well as earning a commission from the people that they have in turn recruited themselves.
MLM businesses are often referred to as a pyramid scheme, and have unfortunately built a reputation of feeding the fat guy at the top and everyone else beneath does all the hard work.
To a degree this is true, and most MLM business owners will tell you that it is truth. They will never deny the fact that all your work adds to the pay check of the person above you. However, the part that people miss is that the fat guy was in your shoes at one stage, also trying to get people signed up under him.
Aside from the bad reputation caused by a lack of understanding of a Multi-level marketing company, another important aspect to be aware of is the fact that, even though you have the opportunity to create a residual income for your self, you still have to work to maintain it. So the whole concept of residual income isn’t entirely true, if you have to consider the absolute definition of residual income itself.
The very nature of the system and how it works by getting people signed up under one another causes the MLM business owner to work constantly to keep the people in the pipeline, and making sure that they keep adding to the pipeline as well.
What happens is that people often drop out half way and you lose a segment of the pipeline, causing obvious kinks in the income flow as well. Ideally, you would want to maintain constant contact with the people you have signed up so that you can keep track of what’s happening with your business.
Other than that, the only stopping you from making yourself a small fortune, is your self. You have to be able to make time to get it working and you have to be persistent to break through the barriers mentioned above. A multi-level marketing business is an ideal way to get your self financially secure; you just need to be able to see over the hills into the valley on the other side!
MLM Basics

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing, is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.
Multi-level marketing employ the method of selling which depends on networking between people. The salespeople not only sell their product, but also recruit other salespeople who in turn sell the product and recruit other salespeople. The resulting hierarchy produces levels of distributors all working to promote and sell the product and sharing in the profits of the levels below them. It effectively bypasses the traditional forms of promotion and distribution in favor of a large network of independent distributors. In the majority of multi-level marketing programs, commissions are paid way down the line so the more people you and your team bring on, the more you earn.
Independent, unsalaried salespeople of multi-level marketing are referred to as distributors, associates, dealers, independent agents, etc. They represent the parent company and are awarded a commission based upon the volume of product sold through each of their independent businesses.
Independent distributors develop their organizations by either building an active customer base, who buy direct from the parent company, or by recruiting a downline of independent distributors who also build a customer base, thereby expanding the overall organization. Additionally, distributors can also earn a profit by retailing products they purchased from the parent company at wholesale price.
MLM companies employ strategy and provide a number of different compensation plans that can enable members to earn money from several sources. Some of these are:
Personal Sales Commissions: It is the money the distributor earns by directly selling the company product.
Residual income: Commission received by distributor for a customer repurchases.
Group bonus: Percentage of the sales generated by the members of your network.
Leadership bonus: It is a reward for helping someone you sponsored move up to a higher level in the organization.
Usage bonus: Commission of distributors as a percentage of their groups’ total usage levels.
As in any business venture, choosing which multi-level marketing company to join depends on your personal interests and needs. Research companies whose products and/or services you believe in and which customers will buy on a repeated basis. You want a company with a sound track record.
Here’s a few ways of researching MLM companies and opportunities:
1. Get all the facts about the company, its officers, its products, number of years in business, management team, and industry standing.
2. Get written copies of the company’s marketing plan, sales literature, etc.
3. Check with others who have experience with the company and its products. Look for the actual person not just some testimonials online or in the ads.
4. Look at the position of the product industry as a whole. The amount of support in marketing and training provided by the company is another indicator of the strength of the company.
5. Check with the Better Business Bureau and state Attorney General’s office about any program you’re considering–especially when the claims about the product or your potential earnings seem too good to be true.
Your success in a multi-level marketing business depends on a number of factors, one of the most important being your willingness to work hard and stay motivated. Learning to promote your business, sell your product, and satisfy your customers is the key to a rewarding business venture.

Multi-Level Marketing Programs Don’t Work

The truth is, if you manage to stuck it out and put in enough effort to make the system work for you, then who cares what the person above you is earning at the end of the day.
If you think about it, why would there be so many of these companies, if the systems didn’t work? Why then, are there people that are making a fortune every month off these very same systems? The problem almost always lies with the individual, and how they approach their work in the business.
With a little bit of patience, hard work and dedication you can make your multi-level marketing business work for itself, leaving you with time and money to do the things that you want in life.
Multi-Level Marketing Genealogy Leads
May 18, 2009 by admin

When a new recruit is just getting started, they will usually proposition friends, family and co-workers to either buy their products and services or to come to a meeting to join their team. The new business owner feels the need to sell the parent company, contact individuals and try and build a base of distributors. The recruit is in the love affair phase where everything about the MLM business is new and incredible.
When the new recruit runs out of friends, family and co-workers, they start looking for other people who were in a multi-level marketing company in the past. These are called MLM genealogy leads. These type of leads are people who are no longer in business and getting a genealogy lead to activate is HUGE! This is because these past distributors are already trained in prospecting, sales and building a successful downline quickly and effectively. If the right lead activates, there is the possibility that the recruiter’s downline can build exponentially over weeks instead of months.
As it is with most businesses, successful MLM owners look to their contacts to help them build both their sales side of the business and find other prospective recruits. When a person joins a new network, they will bring all the people they know into the circle of influence and there will be the possibility of creating a large network.
MLM genealogy leads can come through business contacts, friends and networking meetings designed to promote multi-level marketing business as a whole. It’s important that the MLM business owner check the leads acquired against the “Do Not Call” list but aside from that, they are free to work the leads and look for people interested in working in their own home business.
With the economic situation like it is, there are more and more genealogy leads reactivating and getting into new MLM businesses to make ends meet. As a result, recruiters looking to build a downline fast, and build a sales force can take these leads and go from “No” to “Maybe” very quickly.
Getting an ex-MLM distributor excited over a new multi-level marketing opportunity is one of the best ways to build quickly. Many things including MLM jargon, sales training, and how to recruit is already a part of the genealogy lead’s arsenal, so it’s just a matter of introducing them to the new business model and letting them go for it.

Reinvigorating “Mature” Downlines
April 27, 2009 by admin
Just because a downline is performing well at a given point of time, there is no assurance that he/she will continue to do so. A multi-level marketing downline that have been successful in the past has the tendency to retrograde. Effective and motivated downline can become stagnant. Initial enthusiasm can give way to lack of interest. Time and lack of challenge can diminish the initial effort. Success can lead to complacency, and maturity brings less openness to new ideas and innovations.
“Mature” MLM downline are particularly prone to “overconfidence”. They begin to think that they know everything and had achieve everything, so they assume that even without doing anything they can still be the “top”. As a result they decrease their involvement and apparently decrease their productivity.
What can be done to reinvigorate the “mature” MLM downline? We offer four suggestions that can rekindle the enthusiasm and passion of those who are experiencing the so-called “maturity problem”.
1. Prepare downline to deal with the “maturity problem”: Remind the budding successful downline that they are not unique – all successful downlines have to confront “maturity” issue. They shouldn’t feel let down or lose their confidence if the initial excitement and euphoria subside, and the conflict that they have not experience before surface to confront their success.
2. Revitalize the Passion: Remind them of their goals and the goal of the company. Have an occasional gathering for successful downlines wherein they could share their achievements to other successful downline. This could arouse the feeling of competitiveness. Instill on their minds that their success is just the beginning, there is more to come.
3. Offer advanced training: Usually we only train new downlines, but it is also necessary to train the successful “mature” downline. You could offer refresher training as well as advance training. Refresher training can reinvigorate the initial passion to succeed while advance training can gear up challenge. Present new innovations and ideas keep them on their toes.
4. Encourage successful “mature” downlines to treat their success as a constant learning experience: A successful downline should approach their own development as a part of a search for continuous improvement. They should look forward to ways to improve, to confront the fears and frustration, and use conflict as a learning opportunity.
Once your downline is “mature” and performing effectively, your job as upline is not over. You need to support your “mature” downline with advice, guidance, and training if these successful ingredients of your multi-level marketing venture are to continue to improve.
