Anyone who has spent time in MLM knows that the key to success is attracting the right prospects. Bringing other peak performers into your organization can make your business grow exponentially, while signing up “duds” can bring your team to a screeching halt. So how do you attract those winners to your group?

There are two proven tactics that have been successful repeatedly. The first is to project complete confidence. and the second is to proudly share your “elevator speech.” Think about when you were recruited into your mentor’s organization. You probably looked at that person very carefully before deciding to go into the business with them. Did you make that decision because your sponsor seemed like someone who really needed to sign up a new member? Or did you join because your sponsor already seemed successful in the business? No one wants to join up with a mentor who is desperate–and desperation shows.

This is probably this biggest lesson to learn: never let a prospect think that you are desperate to sign them up. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve signed up five people that day or your spouse has told you that today is your last chance with the business. When you are discussing the business, discuss it like you would with a close friend or family member that you were NOT trying to recruit. Just tell them about the business. Instead of saying, “If I could just get two more people this month, I know my team would take off,” tell your prospect how proud you are of your team members’ success.

Talk about them the same way you brag about your kids to your friends. You will get the hang of it and tweak it until it comes so naturally to you that you don’t even have to think about it.
