Multi-level marketing companies have become quite popular and have turned out to be very lucrative businesses, for both the business starters and the people that join them.
The whole concept of referring people to the business, making them purchase the products and then earning a commission or rebate from all the sales of the people that you have recruited, as well as earning a commission from the people that they have in turn recruited themselves.
MLM businesses are often referred to as a pyramid scheme, and have unfortunately built a reputation of feeding the fat guy at the top and everyone else beneath does all the hard work.
To a degree this is true, and most MLM business owners will tell you that it is truth. They will never deny the fact that all your work adds to the pay check of the person above you. However, the part that people miss is that the fat guy was in your shoes at one stage, also trying to get people signed up under him.
Aside from the bad reputation caused by a lack of understanding of a Multi-level marketing company, another important aspect to be aware of is the fact that, even though you have the opportunity to create a residual income for your self, you still have to work to maintain it. So the whole concept of residual income isn’t entirely true, if you have to consider the absolute definition of residual income itself.
The very nature of the system and how it works by getting people signed up under one another causes the MLM business owner to work constantly to keep the people in the pipeline, and making sure that they keep adding to the pipeline as well.
What happens is that people often drop out half way and you lose a segment of the pipeline, causing obvious kinks in the income flow as well. Ideally, you would want to maintain constant contact with the people you have signed up so that you can keep track of what’s happening with your business.
Other than that, the only stopping you from making yourself a small fortune, is your self. You have to be able to make time to get it working and you have to be persistent to break through the barriers mentioned above. A multi-level marketing business is an ideal way to get your self financially secure; you just need to be able to see over the hills into the valley on the other side!

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also known as Network Marketing, is a business-distribution model that allows a parent company to market its products directly to consumers by means of relationship referrals and direct selling.
Multi-level marketing employ the method of selling which depends on networking between people. The salespeople not only sell their product, but also recruit other salespeople who in turn sell the product and recruit other salespeople. The resulting hierarchy produces levels of distributors all working to promote and sell the product and sharing in the profits of the levels below them. It effectively bypasses the traditional forms of promotion and distribution in favor of a large network of independent distributors. In the majority of multi-level marketing programs, commissions are paid way down the line so the more people you and your team bring on, the more you earn.
Independent, unsalaried salespeople of multi-level marketing are referred to as distributors, associates, dealers, independent agents, etc. They represent the parent company and are awarded a commission based upon the volume of product sold through each of their independent businesses.
Independent distributors develop their organizations by either building an active customer base, who buy direct from the parent company, or by recruiting a downline of independent distributors who also build a customer base, thereby expanding the overall organization. Additionally, distributors can also earn a profit by retailing products they purchased from the parent company at wholesale price.
MLM companies employ strategy and provide a number of different compensation plans that can enable members to earn money from several sources. Some of these are:
Personal Sales Commissions: It is the money the distributor earns by directly selling the company product.
Residual income: Commission received by distributor for a customer repurchases.
Group bonus: Percentage of the sales generated by the members of your network.
Leadership bonus: It is a reward for helping someone you sponsored move up to a higher level in the organization.
Usage bonus: Commission of distributors as a percentage of their groups’ total usage levels.
As in any business venture, choosing which multi-level marketing company to join depends on your personal interests and needs. Research companies whose products and/or services you believe in and which customers will buy on a repeated basis. You want a company with a sound track record.
Here’s a few ways of researching MLM companies and opportunities:
1. Get all the facts about the company, its officers, its products, number of years in business, management team, and industry standing.
2. Get written copies of the company’s marketing plan, sales literature, etc.
3. Check with others who have experience with the company and its products. Look for the actual person not just some testimonials online or in the ads.
4. Look at the position of the product industry as a whole. The amount of support in marketing and training provided by the company is another indicator of the strength of the company.
5. Check with the Better Business Bureau and state Attorney General’s office about any program you’re considering–especially when the claims about the product or your potential earnings seem too good to be true.
Your success in a multi-level marketing business depends on a number of factors, one of the most important being your willingness to work hard and stay motivated. Learning to promote your business, sell your product, and satisfy your customers is the key to a rewarding business venture.

MLM or multi level marketing is a great way to start your own business and work from home. If you happen to be one of those people that don’t like working for other people, or you would prefer not to have a normal 8 – 5 job every day, waking up early and having to sit in an hour of traffic in the morning, then you need to find yourself something that will give you the freedom to do that and at the same time allow you to earn enough money to live comfortably.
Unfortunately, for most of us, that never becomes a reality and we end up spending our whole lives working day in and day out for almost meaningless retirement. You have to ask yourself why you bother with all that to begin with. Most of the multi-level marketing programs are very much the same in terms of the concept and business models, and will often have some form of product that is sold and some form of commission or residual payment that is paid to the business owner on a monthly basis, for products that are bought and sold by people that you have asked to join underneath you.
MLM businesses have been around for many years. and that alone should give a person an indication of how successful and lucrative these schemes can actually be. Not only does the mother company make a bundle, but the people that are a part of them, are also given the opportunity to keep some of that profit for themselves.
Over and above that, that profit becomes a continuous source of revenue for you on a monthly basis, and you actually end up earning money for doing absolutely nothing. One would have to agree that it sounds too good to be true, but you need to consider 2 very important factors. The first is that it doesn’t happen overnight, and it will take some time before it gets to a level that is to your satisfaction. The second is that it requires hard work and dedication to make the whole system work.
By simply putting time and effort into your MLM business and you manage to get it up and running quickly, you won’t need to wait until you are 60 to see the money from your multi level marketing business, and it will keep on coming well into old age.
